Based on a true story,

FIRECRACKERS will be an inspirational independent film about a teacher, Lynn Kelley, who is transferred to a struggling school and inspires not only a group of unruly girls, but also an entire community.  It is a movie about self-esteem and believing in dreams no matter what you look like or where you come from.  The Firecrackers are a hugely popular jump rope performance team that has performed on national television shows like David Letterman and at numerous national sporting events – receiving standing ovations and over 27 million hits online.  Founded by Lynn Kelley, the program started over twenty years ago as a way to help girls believe in themselves and learn the value of hard work and discipline.  Lynn Kelley was voted one of America’s Most Caring Coaches by USA Today and her powerful story serves as the basis for the movie.  Joseph Greco, writer & director of the award winning indie film CANVAS starring Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden, Joe Pantoliano & Devon Gearhart, has written the screenplay and will be directing this fun and heartwarming new movie in 2015.

Joseph Greco wrote & directed the award winning feature film Canvas, which starred Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Emmy Award winner Joe Pantoliano. Canvas won the Alice Nell Citta sidebar at the Rome Film Festival, Best Film awards at festivals across the country and was an Official Selection by the NY Film Critics, AFI Dallas, and the Hamptons Film Festivals. Canvas was heralded by such film critics as Roger Ebert and Peter Travers of Rolling Stone Magazine, who declared Canvas to be “triumphant” and “one of the most touching and vital works I have seen in a good long time.” Canvas also received the golden “thumbs up” award from Roger Ebert at Ebertfest in 2008. Screen Media Films released Canvas in select cities, and Universal Home Entertainment released the film on DVD in 2008. Joseph Greco has worked with such actors as Harrison Ford, Mathew Modine, and Cloris Leachman.

He directed singer Lisbeth Scott’s (Chronicles of Narnia, Munich, Avatar) music video Hope is a Thing, working alongside two- time Academy Award winning Cinematographer Haskell Wexler, and her music video Take Me Home, from HBO’s hit series True Blood. Greco produced & directed the 2012 Emmy winning documentary series Profiles of Hope, and was a producer of Joe Pantoliano’s award winning documentary No Kidding, Me Too, both of which were released on PBS. After graduating Florida State University’s Film School, Joseph Greco learned the business working at Lightstorm Entertainment alongside Oscar winning director James Cameron and garnered awards of his own with his two short films, The Ghost of Drury Lane and Lena’s Spaghetti, which premiered in the Telluride Film Festival’s Filmmakers of Tomorrow Program. Joseph Greco is a proud member of the DGA and resides with his wife in Los Angeles.
